“THE HAND OF THE LORD” MIDWEEK WORSHIP INFO: When Jesus reached out and touched the bier of the widow’s dead son, the funeral procession was stopped dead in its tracks. Like the prophets Elijah and Elisha before Him, Jesus raised the only child of a woman in need. When Jesus touches death, it can only mean life. Above all, in Christ’s cross, He destroyed death by His death (2 Timothy 1:10). Christ touched death, and death was overcome by His resurrection life. When our sin and its deadly consequences are touched by Jesus in Baptism, we are united to His death and resurrection. So we are now “dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11). As we prepare to enter into Holy Week, we see the specific ways that those hands, into which the Father has given all things, have worked forgiveness, life and salvation.

There is a basket of M&Ms behind the church pews. Help yourself. Each tube of candy returned full of quarters is a $14 donation. The money raised will help cover the cost for those youth attending the gathering in New Orleans this summer. Thank you to everyone for helping out with this fundraising.
EASY AS PIE: The LYF is doing a pie fundraiser for their New Orleans trip. You pick the flavor (peach, apple, cherry) and quantity of pies, they assemble them and have them ready for baking or freezing! Pies cost $20/pie or $25/baked pie. This letter was received on Tuesday, December 31, 2024:
Dear Elders and Members of Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Reflecting back on the last year and a half with Pastor Kirchhoff as our
vacancy pastor, we are filled with much joy and appreciation. Our congregation has grown tremendously under his care.
Pastor Kirchhoff served us so well. In order for that to happen, it was necessary for you to be willing to allow him the time needed to guide and care for us. You did this without any questions and we want to say “thank you”.
Please keep Zion in your prayers as we continue to navigate the call process. Be assured that Immanuel is in our prayers as well.

THE LORD’S SUPPER is celebrated at this congregation in glad confidence that our Lord gives to us not only bread and wine but His very Body and Blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sins, and do not refuse to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may proclaim His death until He comes. We are genuinely interested in the spiritual welfare of all who worship with us. We, therefore, respectfully ask all guests who desire to commune with us today, first speak with the Pastor or the elders before the service begins. For further study on this sacrament, see Matthew 26:26-29 and 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
After much prayer, reflection, and careful discernment, I am writing to officially inform you that I have accepted the extended call from Holy Lamb Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to serve as their pastor. This decision did not come easily, and I am deeply moved as I reflect on the many blessings we have shared and witnessed together at Immanuel.
It has been an honor and a joy to see our congregation grow, particularly through the presence of young families bringing their children to worship each Sunday. The pre-confirmation program for 5th-6th graders and the confirmation class for 7th-8th graders have been tremendously fulfilling to lead, and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with your youth during these vital stages of faith formation. The fruits of these past three years of ministry are clearly beginning to be harvested among our members, a testament to God’s grace at work within us.
However, as I considered the call to Myrtle Beach, I was reminded of the Fourth Commandment, which calls us to honor and respect our parents, a principle that remains foundational in my family, just as it is in yours.
I have every confidence that God will continue to guide Immanuel Lutheran Church in its ministry of Word and Sacrament to Osmond, Nebraska, and beyond. My prayers will remain with you as you continue the important work we have started together, trusting that God’s hand is with you and that His promises endure.
Thank you for the support, faith, and friendship you have shown me. May God bless and keep you always.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Scott Kirchoff
