Circuit Easter Vigil service on April 4th from 7:00-8:30 pm at Golgotha Lutheran, 87242 543 Ave., Wausa. The Vigil of Easter (which was celebrated at the end of Holy Saturday as the conclusion to the sacred Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Saturday Vigil) ushers in the celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord. In some places throughout the early centuries of the Church’s life, the people of God would hold vigil (keep watch) through the night in eager expectation of Christ’s return, culminating at midnight (or sunrise) in the celebration of the resurrection with the Lord’s Supper. As the Church gathered in vigil, she would emphasize the light of Christ growing from the darkness of Good Friday, remember Holy Baptism and confess her faith, prepare the candles and altar that was stripped on Holy Thursday, and finally sing alleluias (which had not been sung since the beginning of lent). Note: At Golgotha Lutheran Church, we practice closed communion. If you are a member in good standing of a LCMS congregation, we extend to you the family table, and you are welcome to come forward for communion. All others are asked to refrain and are welcome to speak to the pastor before or after services for further explanation.
