WE WELCOME EVERYONE who has worshipped with us this morning, especially our guests.  We hope you will be able to worship with us again soon.

 

THE CANDLE LIGHTERS for this morning’s worship service are Sam Johnson and Erica Slagle.  Next Sunday they will be Daniel Wiese and Ben Johnson.

 

WE REMEMBER IN OUR PRAYERS TODAY:   Mardelle Buckendahl, Clarice Gansebom, Evaline Hoeppner, Steve Kumm, Doyle Timmerman, Darrel Kahny, and Beth Johnson.   We rejoice and give thanks with Tyler and Tiffany Gansebom for the gift of a daughter, Harper Elizabeth, born last Monday, August 27th.  If you have prayer requests for any members of your family or friends, please notify Pastor or the church secretary to have them added and also when you want them removed.

 

REMINDER:  If you plan to receive Holy Communion today, please register with the elders in the secretary’s office before the worship service begins.

BIBLE STUDY will be held this Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

 

A SIGN-UP SHEET for Sunday School Teachers for the fall session, September thru November, is still posted on the easel in the rear of the church.  All volunteers are very much appreciated.  Please check it out as you leave the church this morning.

 

MIDWEEK AND CONFIRMATION CLASSES for students in grades 5 through 8 are scheduled to begin this week on Wednesday, September 5th from 3:45 – 5:00 p.m.  At the first class one or both parents of the 8th grade students are asked to meet with Pastor and a representative elder to discuss expectations for this year’s class.  If it is not possible for a parent to attend this meeting, it will be necessary to set up a time to meet with Pastor at another time.

 

CHOIR will resume next Sunday morning, September 9th at 8:30 a.m.  Everyone, high school age and older, is encouraged to attend.

 

QUILT TYING will resume on Monday, September 10th.  Please mark your calendars.

 

WORK AND FOOD OR CASH DONATION SLIPS FOR THE WINDSOR LOIN DINNER will be placed in your bulletin boxes nest week.  If you do not receive yours next week, please contact one of the following committee members:

THRIVENT FUNDS AVAILABLE:  The Pierce county Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is organized throughout Pierce County and brings together members to help others and help their church community.  Through the Care Abounds in Communities program, Thrivent Financial has funds available for church members like you who form service activities to help individuals, families and qualified not-for-profit organizations.  Contact a member of our chapter leadership board as noted below for assistance in getting started.  Such activities include:  sports tournaments with funds designated for certain items or programs in your church or school, meals/socials planned as fundraiser for individuals with certain medical conditions or life changing mishaps, quilt auctions, Advent suppers, etc.  Almost anything organized as a fundraiser to support a need.  In Osmond contact Donna Kahny 402/748-3101, Julie Slagle 402/748-3179. 

 

UNITED METHODIST ‘GUEST DAY’ DATE CHANGE:  The date for the United Methodist ‘Guest Day’ has been rescheduled to this Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.  “The Doll Lady”, Candy Anderson, will present the program.  Lunch will follow.  Hope you can join us!
