LWML SUNDAY is an annual celebration of an official auxiliary of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Our local society meets monthly, usually on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. All women of the congregation are welcome to come to any meeting. We are a part of the Nebraska North District and the National LWML. There is a display set up in the rear of church to let you know some of our vision, our treasure, our goals and where are hearts are as an organization. Mite boxes are also available. Our current members are: Connie Anderson, Nancy Bessmer, Sharon Bessmer, Charlotte Blunck, Margaret Broekemeier, Diane Gansebom, Carleen Gutz, Deb Gutz, Betty Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Lois Koehler, Lori Koehler, Lorena Kumm, Delores Pfanstiel, LaDonna Stanosheck and Sharon Wagner.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE will be meeting tonight at 7:00 PM!

CHOIR will begin next Sunday, October 10th. We will start at 8:30 a.m. in the education wing fellowship hall as in the past and we will sing during the worship service following practice. Everyone is welcome, including high school students.

TIRED OF WRITING A CHECK TO CHURCH EVERY WEEK? - We are in the process of setting up automatic payments to the church. We have decided to receive these payments on the 1st and 15th of the month, beginning this month. Our first transfer took place on Friday, October 1st. You can choose one or both of these dates. If you are interested (it is not mandatory) in doing this, please stop in the office and Deb will have you fill out the needed form.

WE ARE CURRENTLY RAISING FUNDS to replace the sign on the NE corner of the church with a digital sign. Donations may be put in the offering plate (clearly marked for the digital sign) or dropped off at the church office. Total collected so far is $7,057.50. Our goal is to collect $22,000 so the sign can be read from both directions. The committee is considering this a mission project. Any questions may be addressed to the committee: LaDonna Stanosheck, Randy Pfanstiel and Deb Gutz.

REV. LEON ROSENTHAL is our new vacancy pastor. He is teaching Confirmation class on Wednesdays and leading the Thursday morning bible class. If you are in need of pastoral care, he can be reached at 402-416-1250.

REMINDER: Please save all BEST CHOICE labels/bar codes! Preschool is still saving the labels/bar codes. This is a continuous collection so you can collect them the whole year. There is a box on top of the bulletin boxes or you can place them in Julie Slagle’s box. Thank you for your help!

“Life Chain” is a peaceful and prayerful witness to all of America that abortion is wrong. Will you please join us in this year’s Life Chain today, October 3rd, in Norfolk? We are meeting at the intersection of 13th Street and Norfolk Avenue. Signs will be provided for everyone to hold. This event is from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Please take 1 hour out of your busy schedule to take a stand for the unborn who cannot speak for themselves. (If you are unable to stand for the entire hour, you are welcome to bring a chair to use). For more information, please contact us at

THE LYF POTATO/GARDEN PRODUCE FUNDRAISER continues today – bags of freshly dug potatoes and garden produce are available at both entryways to the church. Just drop in freewill offering. This fundraiser is helping those attending the National Youth Gathering.

THE “CARD PARTY” celebrated its 3rd anniversary during the month of September. During the last year, 606 birthday cards (14 more than last year) were written. Keeping the church office informed of address changes is truly appreciated since over 80% of these cards were sent through the mail! We welcome anyone interested in joining our outreach ministry to join us the third Tuesday of every month at 1:00 for an afternoon of fun fellowship and card writing at the church.
