immanuelosmond | 11 June, 2021 10:37

WE WELCOME EVERYONE who has worshipped with us this morning. We hope you will be able to worship with us again soon.

OUR READER for this morning is Larry Krohn and next Sunday our reader will be Ed Brummels. Helping with communion next week will be Ross Stelling and Paul Koehler.

CANDLELIGHTERS for this morning are Spencer Hille and Owen Severson. Next Sunday they will be Cali Gutz and Zaylah Pfanstiel.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS this morning finishes the series: “Dangerous Teachings of the Bible.” Today’s study finishes the question of evil or suffering. The number 1 reason people cite for not believing in God is evil or suffering. People say: “How can a good God permit suffering?” It seems that many times we don’t have good answer for that valid question. Why is there so much evil and suffering in the world? Since every Sunday class is a stand-alone topic, you can join today’s class for this important question.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held July 12-15 from 5-8 p.m. and the closing program will be on Sunday, July 18th during the church service. A sign-up sheet for volunteers is up in the back of church. Please consider helping with this mission right here in our own community. Registration has begun (in the back of church), so register your children now!

A DIGITAL SIGN is being considered to replace the sign on the NE corner of the church. A poster has been made and is in the back of church. Donations from memorials and/or members is how the sign will be paid for. The committee is considering this a mission project. Any questions may be addressed to the committee: LaDonna Stanosheck, Randy Pfanstiel and Deb Gutz.

A VBS VOLUNTEERS MEETING will be held on June 30 at 7:30 pm. Everyone who signed up or is interested in helping with VBS should plan to attend. We are grateful for everyone who is willing to give their time and talent to furthering the Christian education of our young people and praise God that we can return to 'normal' this year.

MAIN STREET LIVING NEWS: This is the Life – “Jeremy” – This episode deals with the relationship between a mother and a mentally challenged son who lives at home. Worship Service – Rev. David Doellinger of Trinity Lutheran Church in Marcus, IA, delivers the message “The Word of God is Planted and Grows to Give You Life” based on Mark 4:26-34. These shows air today beginning at 10:00 AM on KCAU-9 TV out of Sioux City.

THE LUTHERAN HOUR: Today, "Clearly Christian: Good" - Speaker: Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler -- Many think they know what Christianity is all about, but Dr. Michael Zeigler asks, what if what they think it is, it isn't? The Lutheran Hour airs on WJAG both AM 780 and FM 105.9 on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

REMINDER: The cemetery will be mowed this evening and tomorrow. If you want to keep your flowers and ornaments, and they are not in a vase on the headstones, please remove them by this afternoon or they will be disposed of. Thank you!

Please note!! If you cannot come Monday evening, you may come Sunday evening or Monday afternoon, but please contact your chairman, Marvin Kumm at 402-748-3228. Women and older children are also welcome to help mow. We need riders, push mowers and trimmers in order to do a good job.

NO SUNDAY SCHOOL today! Summer Sunday school will be held the last Sunday of June, July and August.

NEXT SUNDAY the Adult Bible Class will begin a new study series on the book of Judges. The Old Testament book of Judges is very contemporary for our lives today. A repeated phrase in Judges is: “Everyone did what was right in their own eyes,” and that phrase pretty much describes life in the United States today. Join Adult Bible Class to explore how God’s people handled life in similar circumstances to today. In addition, the book of Judges has some very interesting accounts, perhaps, most humorous story in the Old Testament. See you in Bible Class!

PASTOR LILIENKAMP is available Wednesday afternoons and evenings. Thursday mornings, he is available before and after 9:00 AM Bible class. Thursday afternoon available until 3 PM. To ensure contact, please call Pastor Lilienkamp (402-369-2529) to check availability as sometimes shut-in visits, home visits or meetings might be scheduled during these times. Thank You! If you need pastoral care other days, please call his phone number listed.
