NEW BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITY: Again this Thursday, January 28th at 6:30 AM, Pastor Lilienkamp will moderate a men’s study time. The study will use a synodical study to help small town/rural congregations grow in faithfulness to the Word of God. The study will address some of the issues that President Snow raised at the pre-call meeting of Dec. 1. Men, young and old, are encouraged and invited to the study time. In addition to study, sharing, and prayer, coffee/juice, rolls/toast will be served. The plan is for the study group to meet 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. Adjournment will be promptly at 7:30 AM.

LIFE SUNDAY, is observed today at Immanuel, as well as at most LCMS congregations. LIFE SUNDAY marks the importance of humans being sacred at every level from conception to the grave. January 22, 1973 marked the date of Roe v. Wade legalizing abortion in all 50 states of the union. Since that date, 70 million innocent pre-born lives have been taken. Each of the babies is a life for which Jesus lived, died and rose. As Christians we work for the preservation of life. Christians work for the welfare to help mothers with unexpected pregnancies so that the babies can be delivered and brought up. You can receive pro-life information, resources, and Bible studies at our LCMS pro-life organization, Lutherans for Life. LFL is found on the web at: www.lutheransforlife.org. The single red rose is a symbol of the pro-life movement. On the altar today, Pastor Carl and Darlene have placed two single red roses in memory and honor of all the babies lost through abortion. “Today we don’t confess that we are against abortion. We are, of course. But that’s not quite it. Today we don’t confess that we are pro-life. We are, of course. But that’s not quite it, either. Today we confess that God gives life to all things. God makes, and we are made. He makes life, and we leave alive.” Rev. Christopher Esget, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Virginia

THE 2020 ANNUAL REPORT is being finalized. Officers, if you haven’t already, please bring your reports to the church office as soon as possible. Thank You!

SUNDAY BIBLE CLASS will spend a second week on Exodus chapter 20 - the giving of the 10 Commandments. Last week, class learned that no- where in the Bible text are the 10 Commandments called the 10 Commandments. They are called the 10 Words. All 10 Words are relational. They all deal with relationships other than SELF. Join today’s class to discuss how each commandment deals with relationship with God and others.
