WE WELCOME EVERYONE who has worshipped with us this morning, especially our guests.

THE CANDLE LIGHTERS for this morning's worship service are Nicholas Timmerman and Kaden Polt. Next Sunday morning they will be Jared Bessmer and Holly Jensen.

OUR READER for this morning's worship service is Logan Stelling. Next Sunday's reader will be Aaron von Rentzell and helping prepare and distribute Holy Communion will be Ed Brummels and Doug Hartner.

WASHING OF REBIRTH: Rowyn Quinncy Gutz, daughter of Seth and Rachel Gutz, born August 25, 2018, will be brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism in our service this morning. Hannah Gutz, Lynette Moak and James Hagadorn will serve as sponsors. We thank the LORD for making Rowyn his child and heir, through Holy Baptism, and we pray that she will continue to live in her baptismal grace all the days of her life and into eternity. God bless you, Rowyn.

MIDWEEK AND CONFIRMATION CLASSES for students in grades 5 – 8 will begin September 5th. Classes will begin at 3:45 and end at 5:30 p.m.

Immanuel will be hosting a benefit for Pastor Tim Beckendorf on November 18th from 4-7 p.m at the City Hall. There will be a freewill donation meal, silent auction items and a bake sale/garage sale. The committee is asking for any organization or individuals to contribute items for the silent auction, bake sale or rummage sale (no clothes please). If anyone would like to contribute, please contact one of the committee members listed below as soon as possible. If anyone would be willing to donate their Thrivent Action Team Card to help cover expenses that would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone would like to help work at the benefit, please let the committee know. The Beckendorfs sincerely appreciates any and all contributions or donations. Thank you!

A NEW HEARING ASSIST SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED and is operational. For anyone wanting to try a unit out, they are in a basket by the mailboxes. Just pick one up before church and return it after the service.

New Parents Bible Study – A new Bible study, "When Strong Moms Feel Quite Weak" will be held during the month of November. It will held at 10:30 am during the Sunday School hour.

A NEW MEMBER CLASS will begin Sunday, November 4, immediately following worship. Please pass the word and contact Pastor if you or anyone you know may be interested.

MARK NOVEMBER 5 ON YOUR CALENDAR. Rev. Dr. Lamb will return to Immanuel and lead us in a discussion and completion of a Durable Power of Attorney. In addition, Pastor Emery and Todd Stonacek will discuss Christian funeral planning.

A FAREWELL RETIREMENT RECEPTION will be held on Sunday, November 11, immediately following worship services. Denise has faithfully served Immanuel since April 1985! We will also be honoring Clarice Gansebom and Wes Kumm, who have also retired from their service here at Immanuel. We give thanks to God for these members! Everyone is encouraged to stay for cake and coffee.

The LYF will be serving a meal at the Norfolk Rescue Mission on November 17, 2018. They will also be collecting items for the Mission's pantry. Any donations are accepted. The items most needed at this time are: Instant Potatoes -- Lipton Onion Soup Mix -- Cream of Mushroom soup -- Canned Tuna and Chicken. There will be boxes in the entry of both sides of church to place donated items into. Thank you to everyone for supporting the LYF and their servant event.

HUNTER'S BREAKFAST: St. Paul Lutheran church of rural Orchard will host their annual Hunter's Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday November 10 and 11 in the church basement. They will be serving pancakes and sausages, homemade soups and grilled cheese sandwiches. A freewill offering will be received to benefit St. Paul Lutheran Church. This is a Thrivent Financial Action Team Project.

THE LYF IS SELLING JOURNEY OF FAITH CANDLES AND RADA CUTLERY to raise money for those attending the National Youth Gathering being held in Minneapolis – July 2019. They will be selling now until the end of October. Thank you for supporting the LYF and for helping offset the cost of the Gathering.

The Big Mission Event sponsored by Christ Lutheran Servants of the Savior will be taking place Sunday, November 11th, at Divots Conference Center. Social hour begins at 5:00 p.m. with the meal served at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available for a cost of $50 per person at Christ Lutheran Church office at 605 South 5th Street, Norfolk. No tickets will be sold at the door. Featured speaker Jana Inglehart, LCMS Missionary in the Dominican Republic will provide updated information on current projects and outreach activities. Master of Ceremonies, Gary Thies, a name long synonymous with mission work in the LC-MS Synod, has a story to tell that is ever-changing as the Lord blesses the work done through the office of Mission Central. Silent and live auctions will also be held. All proceeds raised help support a number of missionaries serving in various parts of the world. Orphan Grain Train and other special mission activities.
