A meeting was held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 with members of the Church Dinner Committee (Mindy Evans, Jenny Wingert, Deb Gutz and Lea McKenna) to discuss the feedback received from the surveys that were dispersed to the Congregation back in November/December. Over 200 surveys were distributed and a total of 35 surveys were returned. 25 responses indicated that they would like to continue the annual Church Dinner, 5 responses indicated that they felt the event should not be continued, and the remaining 5 responses were indifferent (didn't provide a definite yes/no response). A big THANK-YOU to those who provided feedback and took the time to fill out the surveys!

Based upon the feedback received and the lack of response from members of the Congregation, the Committee feels that it would be very difficult to continue this event and have it be successful. Last year we struggled to find volunteers to help with the event. We have received feedback from people who felt they were "guilted" into helping. It was not our intent to guilt anyone in to providing help. It takes a significant amount of people to help make an event like this successful and run smoothly. Also, we realize that people are being pulled in various directions and have other life commitments. With that being said, the Committee has decided to forgo having the Church Dinner this year and explore other opportunities to continue to raise funds for mission work.

If you have any fundraising ideas or would like to serve on this committee, please feel free to contact Jenny Wingert (402) 360-4137 or Mindy Evans (402) 640-7433.

THANK YOU! The following thank you was received from Tim and Lisa Beckendorf this past week:

Dear Friends at Immanuel,

Thank you so much for your continued gifts to our ministry with Lutheran Bible Translators. We appreciate you helping make it possible for us to serve the Khwe people and share God's Word with them in their own language.

We are doing well and are getting ready to go back to Botswana in two weeks. Tim continues to go to therapy three times a week and to the YMCA to swim the other days. He is so much improved over what he was, but still has a ways to go before he is back to the way he was. I (Lisa) am starting to get things organized for packing – and am wondering if we really need all this stuff!

Please pray for us as we start traveling Feb. 12th and finally make it home on the 16th. Especially pray that Tim would be able to travel well on the long flight over and on the four hours of really bad roads going home.

Thank you for your support of us and our ministry.

God Bless, Rev. Tim and Lisa, Aaron & Andrew
