WE WELCOME EVERYONE who has worshipped with us this morning, especially our guests.

 

THE CANDLE LIGHTERS for this morning's worship service are Haven and Graysen Schultze. Next Sunday morning they will be Blake Bahr and Zach Huwaldt.

 

OUR READER for this morning's worship service is an LYF member. Next Sunday our reader will be Aaron von Rentzell. Preparing and helping distribute Holy Communion next Sunday will be Doug Hartner and Ed Brummels.

 

THANK YOU to everyone who came to help mow the cemetery last week. Your willingness to help is very much appreciated.

 

CHURCH DINNER: Preliminary preparations have begun for the Church Dinner October 14. The committee is looking for one final member to help chair the event. The position is technically for two years. You will be a trainee this year, and you will be one of two leaders next year. (As the newbie last year, I was nervous about volunteering, but I discovered that over the years, the gals have fine-tuned the procedure, and it actually runs pretty easily. We just need to make up some lists, make some phone calls, and point people in the right direction the night before and the day of. Please consider volunteering! Lea).

Also, we are looking for some folks willing to put up some extra sweet corn that we can use for the dinner. We need approximately 24 gallons, so we will need several volunteers for this donation. Please contact either Deb Gutz, 402-640-3489, or Lea McKenna, 402-748-3407, and let us know what you believe you will be able to donate if you are willing to do this.

 

MITES FOR MISSIONS—The LWML Mite Box is on the stand beside the bulletin boxes. We continue to collect for our Mission Projects and invite anyone to share your coins with us. We appreciate and thank you for your donations to mites. If you have a Mite Box at home and would like to bring it in and empty it in the "Big Mite Box", please feel free to do so.

 

CAMP LUTHER VBS concluded at Immanuel this week. Here are the stats!

This year's VBS Theme was "Beautiful Feet"

We had 67 enrolled with an average daily attendance of 61

Our mission project was the Uganda Clean Water project to help fund building wells. We raised over $450.00!

Camp Luther hosted a LYF night with songs, games & Bible stories

We hosted lunch each day with yummy lunches and great kitchen people. The members of Immanuel donated food for the meals along with an Action Team Thrivent Grant.

HOLY COMMUNION REMINDER: If you plan to receive Holy Communion today, please register with the elders in the secretary's office before the worship service begins.

 

AN INFORMATION MEETING will be held for our congregation this evening, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. The topic will be led by Rev Terril Huber, our circuit visitor. We will discuss the pros and cons of the request from Golgotha-Wausa to form a shared ministry agreement. Everyone is invited.

 

PLEASE NOTE! Due to Vacation Bible School being held in the forenoon, there WILL NOT be any Thursday morning Bible Study this week.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BIBLE STUDY will be held this Wednesday afternoon, June 13th, at the home of Leoma Fuelberth beginning at 1:30 p.m.

 

THE NEBRASKA DISTRICT CONVENTION will be held in Kearney next Friday and Saturday, June 15th and 16th.

 

GUEST NIGHT AT FIRST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, BLOOMFIELD: Have you ever considered running in a marathon? Most of us would say no! Do you wonder why someone would want to run 26.2 miles and what it would take to reach the finish line? Well, join us and experience a marathon through the eyes of a distance runner as Jackie Freeman shares her experience of running inher second Boston Marathon. Come for an evening of food, fellowship and enlightenment in the Fellowship Hall at First Trinity in Bloomfield on June 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

 

VBS REGISTRATION TODAY—Amanda Koehler will be in the back of church to register kids for Immanuel's VBS. Camp Luther will be hosting our VBS this year-Monday, June 18 through Thursday, June 21 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. daily with a lunch served from 11:30-12 Noon. PLEASE NOTE!! Camp Luther requires a health form to be filled out for each child participating in VBS this year along with their enrollment.

Last convention we were honored to have 4 young ladies join us. This year we are excited to have a deaconess that will focus only on our teens and helping them to have fun while serving their Lord. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DELORES KUMM will be held Monday, May 21st at 10:30 a.m., here at Immanuel.  Visitation will be held here, at Immanuel, today from 4 - 8 p.m.

 

THE MAIN COURSE FOR THE NOON LUNCHEON following Delores Kumm's funeral will be catered, but desserts and salads will be needed and appreciated.

TODAY, WE WELCOME ALL OF THE NEW MEMBERS WHO HAVE JOINED OUR CONGREGATION within the last year. A reception will be held following our worship service to welcome them. Everyone is invited to stay and welcome them as members of God's family, here at Immanuel.

 

Today, Brian Evans joins us as an adult confirmand, Scott Simonsen joins us through profession of faith, and Tami Wolle joins us by transfer from a sister LCMS congregation. We also welcome Paige Kumm and Keith and Sharon Bessmer, who joined our congregation earlier in the year.

Whether it was your prayers, donations, manual labor preparing and pouring the cement pad, or stopping by Thursday for a little help in the wind, it was all very much appreciated. A special thank you to Adam Rice who painted the bell and tower, Dennis and Tim Schultze for building the bell tower and wheel, and to Michael Koehler, Brad Ekberg and Ross Stelling for the use of their equipment on Thursday while putting it up on the pad. ADOPT-A-COLLEGE STUDENT!!! Time is running out and names must be picked up today in order to get the care packages to the students in time for finals, as some college finals begin this week. Donna Kahny is sitting at a table in the rear of the church with names and mailing addresses of college students. Please stop by this morning and pick up a name. The college students could use some extra love and support, especially as they approach the end of the year and final exams. Adoption requirements are to send a care package to the student to help them prepare for finals week. Donna also has a list of ideas for items to be packed in the care packages is also available.

 

THE LWML SPRING GATHERING previously scheduled for Saturday, April 14th was postponed due to the weather. It will now be held, here at Immanuel, this Tuesday evening, April 24th, with registration from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. Rev. Michael Awe, pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, South Sioux City, Iowa will be the guest speaker.

 

THE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BIBLE STUDY GROUP will meet this Wednesday, April 25th, at 1:30 p.m.

WASHING OF REBIRTH: Rowan Lynn Gansebom and Barrett James Gansebom, children of Gabe and Candice Gansebom, born October 10, 2016, will be brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism in our service this morning. Colten and Jessica DeLong will serve as sponsors. We thank the LORD for making Rowan and Barrett his children and heirs through Holy Baptism, and we pray that they will continue to live in their baptismal grace all the days of their lives and into eternity. ADOPT-A-COLLEGE STUDENT!! It's time again to adopt-a-college student as they prepare for their end of the year finals. The college students could use some extra love and support, especially as they approach the end of the year and final exams.

Adoption requirements are: Send a care package to the student to help them prepare for finals week. A list of college student names and addresses will be available in the secretary's office by next weekend. If interested, please contact Pastor Emery or Denise and they will give you the student's name and mailing information. We also have several Military members in our congregation, who would appreciate a note of encouragement from their home congregation.

WASHING OF REBIRTH: Liam Ryan Gutz, infant son of Ryan and Alicia Gutz, born March 3, 2018, will be brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism in our service this morning. PASTOR EMERY IS WEARING A CHASUBLE at the 9:30 a.m. worship service. This vestment is usually worn for festival Sundays in the Lutheran Church. It symbolizes charity, which is particularly fitting for Easter as we consider Christ's charity for all mankind through his death and resurrection.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR TERRY CLAUSEN will be held here, at Immanuel, on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, also here at Immanuel.

 

THE NOON LUNCHEON following Terry Clausen's funeral on Tuesday will be held at the Osmond City Hall. If you were planning to bring food for the luncheon, please bring either, cake, bars or cookies, as the remainder of the meal is being catered. Please bring your food to the city hall by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Linens should be in good condition and dark colors are recommended. Content items must be new and can be any brand. There are boxes in the entryways at both sides of church for anyone wishing to donate items for this mission. Thank you for your support of the LYF.

 

A BRACELET was found in the church following Deloris Wiese's funeral. If you are missing a bracelet, you may claim it in the secretary's office.

LENTEN WORSHIP SERVICES will be held on Wednesday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m.

 

THE MEMBERS OF THE 7TH & 8TH GRADE CONFIRMATION CLASS will host the fellowship hour following this week's Lenten Worship Service. A freewill donation will be received for missionary Sarah Kanoy.
