(What a great opportunity for "weight-lifting" and exercise training for our youth while serving the LORD!) A sign-up sheet is posted in back of the church for the days you can offer your assistance.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BIBLE STUDY will be held at 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon, August 10th, at the home of Vickie Emery.

 

BIBLE STUDY will be held on Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join us as we study next week's scripture readings.

 

THE LADIES AID will meet this Thursday afternoon, August 11th at 2:00 p.m.

ATTENTION 7TH & 8TH GRADE CONFIRMATION STUDENTS: 7th & 8th Confirmation Students are asked to bring a 1" 3 ring binder to class on the first week of Confirmation on September 7th.

 

A LIVE CONCERT featuring Cross Tie, a Christian Rock Band of the year in 2015 and Katie Danielle, Christian Artist from Nashville, TN, will be held at Gilman Park, Pierce, NE next Sunday, August 14th from 4 – 6 p.m. Concert is sponsored by: Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce, NE. Bring your Chair or Blanket. Drinks & Snacks will be available for purchase on site. (In Case of Rain, the concert will be held at the Pierce City Auditorium). A Free Will Offering will be taken.

 

THE LWML MITE BOX is on the stand by the bulletin boxes. We continue to collect for our Mission Projects and invite anyone to share your coins with us. We appreciate your donations to mites. If you have a Mite Box at home and would like to bring it in and empty it in the "Big Mite Box", please feel free to do so.

 

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster will have their annual ice cream social on August 21 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. They will be serving homemade ice cream and pie. Thrivent Financial will be paying for the expenses through an action team. Free will donations will all go to missions.

She will make a larger presentation in this morning's adult Bible class. All adults, as well as youth in grades 5-12 are encouraged to attend to hear how Mosaic blesses our communities as an extension of the compassionate ministry of the church.

A BIG THANK YOU goes to Thrivent & its Action Teams Program! Because of the great opportunity to apply for money our VBS was granted $500 this year to help with costs. The money went towards the food and crafts, which was a tremendous help to keep us under budget!

 

A THRIVENT ACTION TEAM MEETING will be held on Tuesday evening, July 26, 5 – 7 pm. If you are interested in a project for the church or community, please come and find out how the program works. Jeff Johnson of Thrivent will be here to explain how you can participate. If you are a Thrivent member, you can apply for up to $250 to support a project. If you are not a Thrivent member, but have a project in mind, Jeff can link you with a Thrivent member to get the work done. Jeff will be here with his computer so you can apply for project funding on the spot. If possible, bring your Thrivent ID number with you. This is a come and go event, so you may stop in anytime during this time frame.

Dale and Suzanne Kaster, missionaries from Ghana. Our LWML ladies regularly support them. Cost for the trip is $18.00 per person, and lunch is provided free of charge by Mission Central. THE OSMOND AMBULANCE BBQ will be held today at Poolside Park from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. They will serve Country-Style Smoked Ribs, Baked Potato, Vegetable, Lemonade, & Dessert for a free will donation. Hot dogs are optional for kids. Everyone is welcome and proceeds will benefit the Osmond EMS Services.

 

GUEST NIGHT AT FIRST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH: Once again the ladies of First Trinity Lutheran Church will be hosting their guest night. This year we are pleased to welcome Jolene Steffen from Crofton. For those that may not be familiar with Jolene, she is a local artist. Jolene will not only be sharing her beautiful painted artwork with us, she will also be sharing stories of life on the farm and how God has influenced both. So, come and join us for an evening of food, fellowship and entertainment in the First Trinity Fellowship Hall this Tuesday, June 14th at 7:00 p.m.

TEENS AND YOUNG WOMEN WANTED! The Nebraska North LWML will be holding their biennial convention in Norfolk on June 17-18, 2016. Are you interested in learning what LWML is all about? Would you like to meet other teens and young women in mission? There is a wonderful opportunity to grow in your faith and be a witness to others. If interested in attending, please contact Deb Gutz at 402-748-3641 to get information. We already have three teens from Immanuel planning to attend. Ages 13-18 would register as teens and ages 18-35 would register as a Young Woman Representative.

 

THE LWML HAS DECIDED TO DO AN IN-GATHERING FOR THE DISTRICT CONVENTION to be held in Norfolk in June. We are inviting the congregation to be a part of this. We will be collecting:

Forever Postage stamps

Nutritious snacks (Peanut butter crackers – Ritz crackers – Graham crackers, REAL (100% juice) juice boxes – Applesauce and fruit cups – granola bars – cereal (like Waffle Crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruit loops, Cheerios)

Single ply toilet tissue

Travel size shampoo, body wash, soap, toothpaste, tooth brush, deodorant

5 oz. Dixie Paper Cups (found at Wal-Mart)

These will be given to Jesus Our Savior Preschool/after school program and to Camp Luther.

There will be a box at each entry of the church, if you would like to help with carrying out these ministries.

 

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TAPE DISPENSER, THE STAPLER AND THE SCISSORS FROM THE SECRETARY'S OFFICE? I still can't find them. If you borrowed them, please return them to the secretary's office. Thank You.

ENGAGING THE WANDERING WORKSHOP: Every congregation has members who, for whatever reason, become less involved in worship attendance and other congregational activities. Reaching out to inactive members is an important part of the mission work that the Lord calls and enables us to do.

To help equip people to reach out to inactive members of their churches, Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk is sponsoring an Engaging the Wandering Workshop. Participants will see how much Jesus loves those who have wandered from the flock and will learn caring ways to gently restore them to the Body of Christ.

Date: Saturday, May 21

Time: 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. with lunch served.

(registration begins at 9:30 a.m.)

Location: Christ Lutheran Church, 605 South 5th St., Norfolk

Presenter: Rev.Todd Kollbaum, Director of the LCMS Rural and Small Town Mission, will give a practical presentation about reaching out to inactive members.

Cost: Free of charge thanks to the generosity of the members of Christ, Norfolk.

A freewill offering will be received to defray lunch expenses.

Registration: Please register by Friday, May 13.

CEMETERY MOWING

Due to all the rain that we have had, the cemetery grass is growing quickly. As a result, the cemetery is scheduled to be mowed again tomorrow, Monday, May 9th, at 6:00 p.m. The following members are asked to please come and help mow:
