SUNDAY SCHOOL AND ADULT BIBLE CLASS will be held this morning.

 

ADULT BIBLE CLASS ON SUNDAY MORNING: Last week we began a study of Islam. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall following worship services this morning as we learn about this religion and find out ways to present the pure message of Christ to them.

 

REMINDER: The 2016 Norfolk Circuit Lutheran Bible Institute entitled "Spiritual Warfare" continues today and next Sunday, January 17th & 24th with January 31st as a makeup date. The sessions run from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 416 W. Park Ave., Norfolk, NE and the cost is free. Today Rev. Leon Rosenthal will discuss the topic Christ v. World and next Sunday Rev. Michael Awe will discuss Christ v. Flesh.

 

MIDWEEK AND CONFIRMATION CLASSES will meet Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m.

 

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS' MEETING will be held this Wednesday evening, January 20th, beginning at 8:00 p.m. At this meeting nomination for Synodical Offices will be made. If you have someone in mind for any of the positions, please plan to attend this meeting.

 

THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY will be held this Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.

 

ALL SECRETARIES AND TREASURERS OF IMMANUEL'S ORGANIZATIONS are asked to please turn in their reports for the 2015 Annual Report to Denise as soon as possible, so that she can get the report printed and compiled. Thank You.

 

THE LYF ANNUAL SOUP DINNER will be held next Sunday, January 24th in the church fellowship hall. They will serve from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend and support the LYF.

 

PLEASE NOTE!! Next Sunday, January 24th, the Adult Bible Study will be held in the new fellowship hall in the education wing, due to the Soup Dinner being held in the regular

LUTHERAN BIBLE INSTITUTE: Weather permitting, Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk will host The Norfolk Circuit 2016 Bible Institute on January 10th, 17th, and 24th from 1:30 – 4:30 each Sunday afternoon, with a make-up date of January 31st. The topic this year is a timely one: "Spiritual Warfare." We will have three presenters: Rev. Dan Feusse, Rev. Leon Rosenthal, and Rev. Michael Awe. Each will present one installment of the theme, teaching us how Christ has won the war against Satan, World, and Flesh. They will also teach us how Christ gives us strength in our daily battles against these enemies. Check out the insert in today's bulletin for more information. PLEASE NOTE: At this time the Plainview Circuit does not have a Bible Institute planned, so please make plans to attend the one in Norfolk, if you would like to attend a Bible Institute.

 

THE FIRST QUARTERLY ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD MEETINGS AND CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING OF 2016 will be held a week from Wednesday, January 13th. The board meetings meet at 7:30 p.m. followed by the council meeting at 8:30 p.m.

 

A CHRISTMAS LETTER has been received from Karen Schreiber and is posted on the bulletin board on the front entry of the church. If you would like to read it, feel free to do so at your convenience. It is printed on pink paper.

 

LOST AND FOUND: If anyone knows where the clear or green plastic plates that are used to put under the poinsettias, Easter lilies, and other plants to catch the water and protect the plant stands, etc. have been stored or if you know what has happened to them, please contact Denise in the church office and let her know. THE FELLOWSHIP HOUR following the Advent worship service will be hosted by the members of the LYF.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE will be held next Saturday morning, December 19th from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. This practice is for all Sunday School students including 3 year-olds, 4 year-olds, Preschool and Kindergarten thru the 8th grade.

IT HAS COME TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SUNDAY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT AND SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS that the Sunday School Students are all very hungry during the Saturday morning Christmas Program Practice, so they have decided to take a break during practice to have a snack. The snack for yesterday was taken care of, but we still need volunteers to provide approximately 8 dozen rolls or donuts for next Saturday, December 19th. A sign-up sheet is posted in the rear of the church for anyone wishing to help out and donate. If you could help donate rolls or donuts, it would be very much appreciated.

THE PRESCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM will be held next Sunday afternoon, December 20th, beginning at 4:00 p.m. All members of Immanuel are invited to attend.

REMEMBERING OUR COLLEGE STUDENTS: We still need $220.00 to provide Subway gift cards to our college students. This is our effort to remember them during their final exams!

SINCE JOAN AND SMOKY SCHULTZE HAVE RETURNED HOME, the LWML is organizing an effort to provide supper for the two of them for a while. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE will be held on Saturday, December 12th and 19th from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. with one final run through during the Sunday School hour on Sunday, December 20. The Last Saturday practice, on December 19th is the ONLY practice the 3 year olds, 4 year olds, and preschool age children will need to be at. Kindergarten thru 8th grade children will be needed at all of the practices. We have started practicing the music for the program and will continue to learn the songs in the Sunday School hour. SUNDAY SCHOOL AND ADULT BIBLE CLASS will be held this morning.

THE 3RD THRU 8TH GRADE SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENTS will be singing in church next Sunday. Please have your students in church by 9:15 a.m. We will be practicing this morning during the Sunday School hour.

A MEETING WILL BE HELD NEXT SUNDAY MORNING FOLLOWING THE WORSHIP SERVICE to give the final report for the Windsor Loin Dinner and to distribute the funds from the proceeds.

THE GOLGOTHA LUTHERAN CHURCH HARVEST DINNER is being held today from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Golgotha Fellowship Hall. They will serve Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and a variety of salads and great tasting homemade desserts. The costs are $10.00 for adults, K-6 are $6.00 and preschool aged children and under are free. Also, there will be children's activities downstairs after they are done eating.

THE ST. PAUL (VENUS ) HUNTER'S BREAKFAST will continue today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are serving pancakes, sausages, soup and sandwiches. There will be a free will donation to benefit Henley and Drake Mitteis, infant twins of Bryce and Kelsey Mitteis. Additional funding applied for from antelope/Knox Chapter of Thrivent Financial.

A NEW QUARTER OF SUNDAY SCHOOL will begin in December. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church if you are interested in teaching Sunday School.

PREPARATIONS ARE BEGINNING FOR THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. If your children are going to be able to be in the Christmas Eve program, please let Kristie or Curtis know.

THE HARVEST DINNER 2015 AT GOLGOTHA will be held next Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Golgotha Fellowship Hall. They will serve Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and a variety of salads and great tasting homemade desserts. The costs are $10.00 for adults, K-6 grade are $6.00 and preschool aged children and under are free. Also, there will be children's activities downstairs after they are done eating.

A HUNTER'S WORSHIP SERVICE will be held this Wednesday evening, November 11th at 6:30 p.m. Please invite your friends in the community to join us in worshipping our Lord before the opening weekend of deer season.

A NEW QUARTER OF SUNDAY SCHOOL will begin in December. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church if you are interested in teaching Sunday School.

THE 3RD THRU 8TH GRADE SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENTS will be singing in church on Sunday, November 22nd. Please have your students in church that day by 9:15 a.m. We will be practicing during the Sunday School hour next Sunday, November 15th, so please have your children here to practice.

PREPARATIONS ARE BEGINNING FOR THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. If your children are going to be able to be in the Christmas Eve program, please let Kristie or Curtis know.                           

THERE'S STILL TIME TO BUY TICKETS FOR THE BIG MISSION EVENT to be held Sunday, November 15, at Divots Conference Center. Sponsored by Servants of the Savior, from Christ Lutheran Church, Norfolk, the Event will have a live and silent auction, with all proceeds raised going towards Orphan Grain Train and various mission projects. Gary Thies, LC-MS Mission Development Counselor will b3e serving as Master of Ceremonies and also be the featured speaker for the evening. The Big Mission Event begins with a 5:00 p.m. social hour, followed by a 6:00 p.m. dinner. Tickets are available for a donation of $50 per person from Christ Lutheran Church, 605 South Fifth Street, Norfolk (371-1210). No tickets will be sold at the door.

THE LONG YELLOW AND ORANGE EXTENSION CORDS ARE MISSING FROM THE JANITORS ROOM. If you used or borrowed them or put them somewhere else, please return them as they are needed to plug in the vacuum cleaners when cleaning.

LADIES--There are many cake pans, bowls, containers and pie plates on the table in the kitchen that are left from the Windsor Loin Dinner, funerals, senior dinner and other events held here at church.  Please check them out as soon as possible, so that we can get the tables cleaned off before the bazaar and other church events.  Even if you don't remember leaving something in the kitchen, please check them out, as you may have forgotten about them.  Thank You.

LUTHER CARE SERVICES, a non-profit company that manages the Luther Park Campus, has provided quality services for mature Iowans, meeting their physical, spiritual, social and psychological needs at a beautiful campus. The LWML will be collecting items for the LWML Convention in June in Des Moines. This will help them provide some resources for their residents: Crayola regular markers--Colored Pencils—Crayons--Tempura Paint—Glue or Glue Sticks--School Paint Brushes--Pony Beads and Pony Bead Laces There will be a box in the front entry of the church if you would like to bring something for our in-gathering.

The LWML will be collecting items for the LWML Convention in June in Des Moines. This will help them provide some resources for their residents:

Crayola regular markers--Colored Pencils--Tempura Paint--Glue or Glue Sticks--School Paint Brushes--Pony Beads--Crayons--Pony Bead Laces

There is a box in the front entry of the church if you would like to bring something for our in-gathering.

 

A SIGN-UP SHEET is posted in the rear of the church for food donations for VBS. Monetary donations for the main part of the noon luncheons are also being accepted and may be given to Jennifer Gansebom, Chelsea Wiese or Janet Pfanstiel.

 

VBS IS SCHEDULED to be held this year June 15 thru June 19th. Plans are to have VBS in the forenoons this year with the closing program and picnic on Friday evening. Coordinating this year's VBS is Chelsea Wiese assisted by Janet Pfanstiel. If you feel that you can help out in anyway, please contact Janet or Chelsea.

Using clues from the Bible, we will solve the mystery and gain a better understanding of God's Word. Each week, look for clues in the bulletin to help us investigate and solve a mystery.

We will also learn about opportunities to become involved in upcoming mission trips. Come join us for an evening of food, fellowship and enlightenment at First Trinity's fellowship hall this Tuesday, June 9th at 7:00 p.m.

TRIP TO MISSION CENTRAL IN MAY!! First Trinity will be chartering a bus to Mission Central next Saturday, May 30, 2015. Mission Central is an agency that supports LCMS missionaries abroad. If you have had the opportunity to visit Mission Central before, you know what a wonderful experience it is to learn about the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ across the globe. If you have not visited before, prepare to have your life changed. We will be getting a tour of the facility as well as a chance to hear from a missionary family concerning their work in Taiwan and the Philippines. The bus will leave at 8:00 a.m. and return about 5:00 p.m. The cost for each person is $25.00. Children are free if accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be provided. Please consider taking advantage of this blessed opportunity to get connected to the work of the church across the world.
