WE THANK VICAR SCHALLER from Grace Lutheran Church Neligh for leading us in worship this morning, while Pastor and Vickie are in Wichita, Kansas for the baptism of their grandson.

 

QUILT TYING will be held tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.

 

MIDWEEK AND CONFIRMATION CLASSES for students in the 5th thru 8th grade will meet Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m.

 

LENTEN WORSHIP SERVICES will be held Wednesday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. Rev. David Gunderson, Senior Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Yankton, South Dakota will lead our worship service.

 

THE MEMBERS OF THE LYF WILL BE HOSTING THE FELLOWSHIP HOUR following Wednesday's Lenten Service this week, March 7th. LYF members are asked to please bring 1 dozen bars to serve and then serve and help clean up.

 

BIBLE STUDY will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.

 

THE LADIES AID will meet next Thursday, March 8th at 2:00 p.m.

 

THE CHOIR WILL MEET next Sunday morning, March 11th at 8:30 p.m.

THE YELLOW VBS FORMS ASKING FOR VOLUNTEERS are due by next Sunday, March 11th. There are extra forms on the ledge below the bulletin boxes, if you have misplaced yours, and also a box for the returned forms.

 

REMINDER!! DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME begins next Sunday, March 11th. Remember to turn your clocks ahead 1 hour next Saturday evening, or you will be late for church next Sunday morning.

 

PLEASE NOTE!!! Adult Bible Study will be held next Sunday morning March 11th, at 8:30 a.m. contrary to previous announcements and the church calendar. Plans have changed.

 

THE LYF IS COLLECTING ITEMS FOR HYGIENE KITS FOR ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN. Their goal is to collect and deliver 150 kits. Items needed to complete kits are bath towel, wash cloth, bath-size bar of soap, adult-size toothbrush, sturdy comb, Band-Aids (1/2" or ¾"). Linens should be in good condition and dark colors are recommended. Content items must be new and can be any brand. There are boxes in the entryways at both sides of church for anyone wishing to donate items for this mission. Thank you for your support of the LYF.

WASHING OF REBIRTH: Brigham Jon, infant son of Matthew and Lacy Stelling, born January 20, 2018, will be brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism in our service this morning. Abby Brunckhorst and Michael and Cassie Stelling will serve as sponsors. We thank the LORD for making Brigham His child and heir through Holy Baptism, and we pray that he will continue to live in his baptismal grace all the days of his life and into eternity. PLAINVIEW ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SCHOOL'S 15TH ANNUAL ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKE, EGG, AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST with baked goods will be held next Saturday, March 3rd from 7 A.M. to 1 P.M. A freewill offering will be taken. You will see some of the area's hottest designers, followed by a sumptuous salad luncheon, next Saturday, August 5th, at Zion Lutheran Church, 520 East Main, Pierce, Nebraska. It will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Zion's Auditorium and a free will donation will be taken.

All proceeds will go toward a new mixer board for the auditorium's

sound system, the vicarage fund and Mission Central.

 

MITES FOR MISSIONS—The LWML Mite Box is on the stand beside the bulletin boxes. We continue to collect for our Mission Projects and invite anyone to share your coins with us. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL for children Nursery (age 3 years to 6th grade), is scheduled to be held this week Monday thru Friday, June 19th through 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a lunch served at 11:30 a.m. The closing program will be held next Sunday morning, during the worship service. OUR READER for this morning's worship service is Mike Gutz. Next Sunday our reader will be Ed Brummels. Kent Gansebom will prepare and help serve Holy Communion next Sunday morning.

 

THE LADIES AID is celebrating its 100th Anniversary. Flowers have been placed at the altar in commemoration of the event. Cake, coffee, and punch will be provided and served immediately after the worship service this morning in the fellowship hall. We hope you can all join us. Check out the display table. The anniversary cake was baked and decorated by Aid member, Denise Streich. It will be served by two of our sixty year members—Margaret Broekemeier and Clarice Gansebom. Deloris Wiese is also a sixty year honorary member.

 

THANK YOU to everyone who came to help mow the church cemetery last week. Your willingness to help is very much appreciated.

 

THE SECRETARY WILL NOT BE IN THE OFFICE this Wednesday, June 14th, but can be reached at her home if necessary.

 

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BIBLE STUDY will be held this Wednesday afternoon, June 14th, at the home of Sharon Schultze beginning at 1:30 p.m.

 

AN ELDERS' MEETING will be held this Wednesday evening, June 14, at 8:00 p.m.

 

THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY will be held this Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS—Vacation Bible School entitled "Mighty Fortress" for children Nursery (age 3 years to 6th grade), will be held June 19th thru June 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a lunch served at 11:30 a.m. The closing program will be held during the worship service on Sunday morning, June 25th. There will be no Friday Night Potluck. Register your children with Chelsea Wiese by June 16th by calling or texting her at 402-881-9639, message her on Facebook or call her at 402-748-3010. Information needed: grade just completed, T-shirt size, food allergies, and a phone number where you can be reached in case Chelsea needs to call you.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL NOTE!! Sign-up sheets are posted for volunteers to help with VBS and also for members to provide fooditems for the noon lunches for the children. Please stop and sign up to help out where ever you are able. Thank You.

GUEST NIGHT AT FIRST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, BLOOMFIELD. The ladies of First Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomfield, would like to invite you to guest night. This year we are pleased to welcome Pastor Bobby and Karen Peters. They are returning from a Reformation Tour in Germany and will share key points from the tour as well as pictures and personal experiences including Luther's Life. Please come join us this Wednesday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall for food, entertainment and fellowship.

 

GIFTS FROM THE HEART—Albuquerque 2017—Our LWML society has chosen to give Gift Cards at the National LWML Convention as our item for the National LWML convention this summer. $10 or $25 amounts recommended to Walmart, K-Mart, Kohl's or J C Penney. Donations of gift cards may be given to President Deb Gutz. If you would like to donate cash, she would be glad to get gift cards for you. These will go to four different agencies – Albuquerque Christian Children (Privately funded foster care that emphasizes Christianity), Care Net (works with unplanned pregnancies – Pro-Life!), Lutheran World Relief (focuses on international disaster relief and recovery), and Ysleta Lutheran Mission (provides ministry and human care on both sides of the US/Mexico border).

REMINDER: THE OSMOND FOOD PANTRY AT THE METHODIST CHURCH IS RUNNING LOW and could use restocking. They are in need of all items, such as cereal, personal items, soap, toilet tissue, laundry soap, cake mixes, mac and cheese, canned meats, tuna, etc. They do still have enough canned vegetables and spaghetti sauce at this time. If you could help them restock, they would really appreciate it. Thank you.

JOHN 3:16 CHRISTIAN CROSS FESTIVAL—Mark your calendars! You are cordially invited to join us at the 13th Annual Christian Cross Festival to be held at Skyview Lake in Norfolk, NE nest Friday, June 9th from 6 – 11 p.m. and Saturday, June 10th from 12 (Noon) to 11 pm. This is a family friendly event that will include Christian music, testimony, children's activities, inflatables, kayaks and fireworks. Relax next to the lake while you listen to artists and speakers at the Main stage or check out the Coffee house stage where you can get close to the performers in a more intimate musical setting. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a day of great Christian music and fellowship with us. Check out our tent camping to register online. Food vendors will be available. There will be NO ADMISSION charge for this event. This is possible only by our financial sponsors and our volunteers that donate many hours of their time.

WASHING OF REBIRTH: Taytum Carter, daughter of Levi and Rachel Gutz, born March 22, 2017 will be brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism in our service this morning. Seth Gutz, Ashley Blanchard and James Hagedorn will serve as sponsors, with Travis and Linda Gutz as witnesses. We thank the LORD for making Taytum His child and heir through Holy Baptism, and we pray that she will continue to live in her baptismal grace all the days of her life, and into eternity. God bless you, Taytum Carter.
