WE WELCOME EVERYONE who has worshipped with us this morning, especially our guests.

 

THE CANDLE LIGHTERS for this morning's worship service are Brock Johnson and Preston Koehler. Wednesday they will be Kendyl Koehler and Paige Johnson. Next Sunday morning they will be Curtis Kralicek and Tyler von Rentzell.

 

OUR READER for this morning's worship service is Alex Kumm. Wednesday evening our reader will be Aaron von Rentzell. And next Sunday our reader will be Ed Brummels. Helping serve and prepare Holy Communion next Sunday will be Kent Gansebom.

 

WASHING OF REBIRTH: Lux Landry, daughter of Jarrod and Amanda Paulsen, born January 6, 2017 will be brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism in our service this morning. Kelsey Nuesch, Max Johnson, Emmett Hoppe, Ethan Hoppe and Riley Schumacher will serve as sponsors. We thank the LORD for making Lux His child and heir through Holy Baptism, and we pray that she will continue to live in her baptismal grace all the days of her life, and into eternity. God bless you, Lux Landry.

 

TODAY, WE WELCOME Paige Moore as a Confirmed member of Immanuel, following completion of Adult Confirmation Instructions. We welcome Paige and wish you God's blessings.

 

MEMBERS OF IMMANUEL—Please join us in the fellowship hall today at 1:00 p.m. for Hannah's Senior Piano Recital. After many years of lessons, we are ready to celebrate her talents and share them with you. The recital will be followed by a fellowship hour. Travis & Linda Gutz

THE USHERS will host the fellowship hour on Wednesday evening following the Lenten worship service.

 

BIBLE STUDY will be held Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.

 

CONFIRMATION RECOGNITION, hosted by the LWML and Thrivent will be held next Sunday evening, April 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Guest speaker will be Daniel Sievert, principal at Lutheran High Northeast. LWML members will reveal their secret pals and lunch will follow the program. All LWML members and their spouses and the confirmands and their families and the chairmen of each church organization are invited to attend.

 

PRESCHOOL— Don't forget to bring in all your Tiger Town receipts! You can keep collecting until March 31st. Please turn them all in, either in the box on top of the bulletin boxes or in Julie Slagle's bulletin box, by April 9th. Thanks for all your help in collecting.

 

WE HAVE AN ABUNDANCE OF NEW THRIVENT T-SHIRTS to give away. If you would like to have one, please stop in the rear of the church beside the bulletin boxes and pick one up. We have several sizes and they are sorted according size on the card table. We have both youth and adult sizes.

 

LWML JOINT EVENT—Nebraska North and Nebraska South Districts are joining together on April 22nd at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island to sew together Pajamas, Therapy Pillow Sets, Therapy Snack Bags and Developmental Hearts. Needed are many volunteers to come and bring your sewing machines, sergers, and other sewing supplies. Bible Studies will be held as well. For the pajamas, our Plainview Zone has been assigned to bring 2 yards x 45" flannel fabric along with a t-shirt to match. Our t-shirt sizes are to be children's size 8-12 and women's XXL. You do not need to be a LWML member to join in. If you would like to donate fabric/t-shirts, please bring to church or contact Deb Gutz.

 

GIFTS FROM THE HEART—Albuquerque 2017—Our LWML society has chosen to give Gift Cards at the National LWML Convention as our item for the National LWML convention this summer. $10 or $25 amounts recommended to Walmart, K-Mart, Kohl's or J C Penney. Donations of gift cards may be given to President Deb Gutz. If you would like to donate cash, she would be glad to get gift cards for you. These will go to four different agencies – Albuquerque Christian Children (Privately funded foster care that emphasizes Christianity), Care Net (works with unplanned pregnancies – Pro-Life!), Lutheran World Relief (focuses on international disaster relief and recovery), and Ysleta Lutheran Mission (provides ministry and human care on both sides of the US/Mexico border).

 

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE AN EASTER LILY FOR EASTER, please bring them to church no later than 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th.

 

MITES FOR MISSIONS—The LWML Mite Box is on the stand by the bulletin boxes. We continue to collect for our Mission Projects and invite anyone to share your coins with us. We appreciate and thank you for your donations to mites. If you have a Mite Box at home and would like to bring it in and empty it in the "Big Mite box", please feel free to do so.

THIS WEEK'S FELLOWSHIP FOLLOWING THE LENTEN WORSHIP SERVICE will be hosted by the members of the 6th grade.

 

THE FREEWILL DONATIONS COLLECTED AT LAST WEEK'S FELLOWSHIP HOUR TOTALED $164.00. This collection will be sent to the Ladies Aid's Mission Project, Seminary Student Josh Vogel and family.

 

THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.

MISSION CENTRAL: Neal Kurtz of O'Neill called to say that they are taking a bus to Mission Central and that they have extra seats, if someone would like to go. They will be coming through Osmond on their way on Saturday, March 25th. If you are interested in going, please contact Neal at: Phone—402-992-1791 or email—nikurtz@outlook.com. The price which includes a noon meal is adults- $30 and kids $20. If you would like to attend, but cannot afford the $30, scholarships to assist are available.

 

ATTENTION MEN!! Did you wear the right jacket home after church services two weeks ago. Please check to see if you have the right jacket. A gray jacket was left in the west entrance of the church and it doesn't belong to Wes.

THRIVENT ACTION TEAMS: Now is a great time to think about applying for Thrivent Action dollars. Any group serving for Lenten fellowship; VBS; a Community family; a shut-in member; or a community service project; could qualify for this seed money to get the project off to a good start. Come to Immanuel on Tuesday, February 21, from 5-7 p.m. Thrivent representative Jeff Johnson will be here to explain The Action Team and help you apply for a project. Snacks will be served!

CAMP LUTHER WOODCUTTER'S RETREAT: Calling all Men: Our annual Woodcutter's Retreat is coming up soon! On Feb. 24-25, we need your help to remove dead trees, clear overgrown areas, clear hiking trails and paths, trim trees, and create burn piles. BENEFIT PLANNED ... A freewill offering benefit soup supper will be held for Gayle and Shelly Sellin this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran, Plainview, fellowship hall. Shelley has had ongoing complications following knee surgery, requiring multiple trips for medical care to Omaha, Kearney and Rochester, MN. On the menu are chili, chicken noodle soup, crackers, relish and dessert. Those attending can also register for door prizes. Thrivent Financial is assisting with expenses, with benefit proceeds to go directly to pay medical and related expenses.

 

THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS: Since the program's inception in 2010, Immanuel has received $17,666.00 in choice dollars. 2016 year to date we have received $1,649. The deadline to designate your 2016 dollars is March 31. If you don't designate where you want the money to go, it goes back into a general pool of money.

Norfolk Area Lutherans for Life sponsored today's broadcast in observance of Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Their Mission is: "Equipping Lutherans to be Gospel-motivated voices for Life. Lutherans for Life 2017 theme is "Here We Stand!" The theme is based on Ephesians 6:13 "Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand the evil day and having done all, to STAND FIRM."

REMINDER TO ALL SECRETARIES AND TREASURERS OF IMMANUEL'S ORGANIZATIONS AND ALL PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR YEAR END REPORTS FOR THE ANNUAL REPORT. Please turn in your reports as soon as possible so that the secretary can get started in compiling and printing up the annual report. If you need a copy of last year's report, contact Denise. REMINDER: Installation of officers, both newly elected and those retaining their office, will be held on Sunday, January 22nd, during the worship service. This includes all organizations, such as Ladies Aid, LWML and the LYF.

 

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS' MEETING will be held on Wednesday evening, January 18th beginning at 8:00 p.m.
