THANK YOU to the family of Catherine Collins for sharing the flowers with us this morning. Her funeral was Monday, December 27th here at Immanuel.

WE HAVE MET OUR GOAL!!! to replace the sign on the NE corner of the church with a digital sign. The committee is meeting with the sign company on Monday to get the new sign ordered. We thank everyone who made a donation to this wonderful mission project.

WE ARE CURRENTLY RAISING FUNDS to replace the sign on the NE corner of the church with a digital sign. Donations may be put in the offering plate (clearly marked for the digital sign) or dropped off at the church office. Total collected so far is $23,874.09. Our goal is to collect $28,000 so the sign can be read from both directions.

Worship Service – Special Christmas Message delivered by Rev. Scott Snow of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wichita, KS. These shows air on today on KCAU-TV 9 out of Sioux City beginning at 10:00 a.m.

THE LUTHERAN HOUR: Today, Zone 11 of the Nebraska District Lutheran Layman’s League is sponsoring this Christmas 2021 Lutheran Hour broadcast. On Christmas Day the white candle, the Christ candle, at the center of the Advent wreath was lighted along with the “Hope”, “Love”, “Joy”, and “Peace” candles. May the Lord grant you and your family a Blessed Christmas Season filled with the true hope, love, joy, and peace found only in Christ Jesus your Savior! Through God’s grace and love The Lutheran Hour reaches over ONE MILLION listeners each week. To God be the glory and praise! FUNERAL SERVICES FOR CATHERINE COLLINS will be held here at Immanuel on Monday, December 27th at 10:30 a.m. NO bars or salads need to be brought in. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. today at the Stonacek Memorial Chapel in downtown Osmond.

WINTER SOLSTICE has come and gone so now we are gaining daylight rapidly--around a half hour a week! Everyone welcomes the return of the sun! Which reminds us to look forward to the Son returning--come Lord, quickly! God bless us all in the New Year 2022.

TODAY WE CELEBRATE the baptism of Collins Rae Lackas, daughter of Kearney and Kelsey (Koehler) Lackas.  Collins sponsors are Tyler & Tiffany Gansebom and Seth & Megan Lackas.  We welcome Collins as a child and heir of heaven.

THANK YOU  Pastor Scott and family would like to thank the members of Immanuel for the wonderful installation service and reception last Saturday.  We also appreciate all of the work that has been done to prepare the parsonage for a new family!  We are thankful to call Immanuel our new church family!

DO YOU LIKE DOGS AND CATSPastor Scott and Sonja are needing someone to dog sit a gentle and healthy 9 yr old dog and check in on cats every 2 days. We are open to letting our dog stay with you, or you may stay in the guest room at the parsonage. The dates are January 3-15. The pet sitting will be paid. Please contact Sonja at 606-682-8494, if you are interested.

 

LOST AND FOUND  A pair of glasses were found after the installation service last Saturday.

BEGINNING THIS MORNING, we are asking members to wear their name badges, which can be found next to your picture in the old west entry, to help Pastor get to know our names and faces. PLEASE put your badges back before leaving the church, so they will be here for every worship service you attend. Thank You!

New location this year due to size of display of the Washington DC Veteran’s Flights of Honor Exhibit will be at the Koehler Channel Seed Building on Hwy 20. MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES will be held Wednesday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m. LWML will be hosting the fellowship hour after worship. There will be a freewill donation basket for their mission project, The Beckendorf Family, serving in Botswana with Lutheran Bible Translators.

A FAREWELL LUNCH RECEPTION for Pastor Rosenthal & Terri for their wonderful service to Immanuel since September will be held after Midweek Advent services this week during the fellowship hour also. There will be a basket for cards.

INSTALLATION OF REV. SCOTT KIRCHOFF will be held this coming Saturday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. A light lunch reception will follow the service.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS, which is entitled, “Prophet, Priest, and King” is a study on 1st and 2nd Samuel. It is a study consideration of “The Tribe, The Nation, and The Empire.” We will consider how God’s Words orders community life, from family to congregation , from church to nation and world and empire.

LYF IS SELLING RADA CUTERLY again this year. Please contact an LYF member if you are interested in placing an order or order online @ www.radafundraising.com. All orders are due by December 5th and we should receive the items prior to Christmas. If you place your order online, they will be shipped directly to you. Thank you for supporting our members and those that are planning on attending National Convention this summer.

THE LADIES AID CHRISTMAS will be held Thursday at noon.

THE LYF will have practices for their December 15th Advent service skit today at 7:00 p.m. and next Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

PICTURES TAKEN – Deb will be taking pictures of our members again this morning before and after church. If you have not had your picture taken yet, PLEASE find her in the fellowship hall either before or after worship this morning. We will have a wall (or two) with the pictures and name badges for everyone to wear beginning December 12th to help Pastor Scott & Sonja get to learn names with faces a little better when they arrive. These pictures will also be used in our Church 360 program.

ALASKA ARCTIC GREETINGS from the Lilienkamps! At Thanksgiving, we have been in Anchorage two months already, and winter has definitely arrived in the Last Frontier. The sun is rising after 9:30 a.m. and setting before 4:00 p.m. and we are losing daylight at the rate of about 4.5 minutes a day! Temperatures are about 20 degrees below normal. However, the warmth of the love of Christ is filling our hearts as we get reacquainted with friends made in the past and get to know others anew. The love of Jesus is a joy to share at all latitudes!
