immanuelosmond | 04 June, 2021 10:38

WE WELCOME EVERYONE who has worshipped with us this morning. We hope you will be able to worship with us again soon.

OUR READER this morning is Ed Brummels and next Sunday our reader will be Larry Krohn. Helping with communion this morning are Paul Koehler and Ross Stelling.

CANDLELIGHTERS for this morning are Blake Bahr and Connor Gutz and next Sunday they will be Zachary Huwaldt and Parker Johnson.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS this morning completes the series: “Dangerous Teachings of the Bible.” Today’s study tackles the question of evil or suffering. The number 1 reason people cite for not believing in God is evil or suffering. People say: “How can a good God permit suffering?” It seems that many times we don’t have good answer for that valid question. Why is there so much evil and suffering in the world? Since every Sunday class is a stand-alone topic, you can join today’s class for this important question.

LYF SENIOR FAREWELL/FRESHMAN WELCOME will be this Sunday, June 6th, at 5:00 at the park. Supper will be served. We will also be electing new officers.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY GROUP will meet this Thursday morning at 6:30 AM. The men’s group enjoys a lite breakfast, fellowship, study, and prayer. This Thursday, the group will start a new study on selected psalms. The book of Psalms passionately touches the human heart because it expresses the emotions of the human heart. Psalms touches our hearts today because we have the same emotions. Now is the time to join a lively men’s study group. See you Thursday morning at 6:30 AM.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held July 12-15 from 5-8 p.m. and the closing program will be on Sunday, July 18th during the church service. A sign-up sheet for volunteers is up in the back of church. Please consider helping with this mission right here in our own community. Registration for students will begin soon.

A DIGITAL SIGN is being considered to replace the sign on the NE corner of the church. A poster has been made and is in the back of church. Donations from memorials and designated donations from members is how the sign will be paid for. The committee is considering this a mission project. Any questions may be addressed to the committee: LaDonna Stanosheck, Randy Pfanstiel and Deb Gutz.

Your willingness to help is much appreciated!

NO SUNDAY SCHOOL today! Summer Sunday school will be held the last Sunday of June, July and August.

WORKERS NEEDED!!! The Nebraska Lutheran Laymen’s League plans to host the LLL State Fair booth in Grand Island Friday, Aug. 27, through Monday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. This is a great opportunity to share your faith and offer valuable printed resources on Christian beliefs - resources with answers to today’s problems and challenges - and visit with fair goers about faith issues. If enough volunteers do not come forward by Saturday, June 12, the booth will not be able to operate this year for the first time in many years. If you are willing to help for a few hours, please contact Paul Schmidt, LLL State Fair Booth Coordinator, cell or text 402-460-0004, or email psflatwater@inebraska.com Thank you for your help!

Richard Hoestje has returned home to continue his recovery from COVID-19 and is doing well. Thank you for the prayer support.
